Our Mission

Connect Columbia is a Community Action Network committed to bringing affordable broadband to all corners of Columbia County!

Who We Are

The Connect Columbia CAN is headed up by both residents and elected representatives from Ghent, Kinderhook, New Lebanon, Ancram, and Hudson.

Participating Communities

The following communities have formed their own broadband committees or taskforces:

  • Ancram
  • Austerlitz
  • Chatham
  • Claverack
  • Copake
  • Gallatin
  • Ghent
  • Greenport
  • Hillsdale
  • Hudson
  • New Lebanon
  • Taghkanic

Having community-organized broadband committees helps to amplify the voices of our residents, and collaborate with the larger Connect Columbia CAN. Don't see your community listed? Let your local elected officials know that you want them to get on board!

History

Connect Columbia CAN was formed after the first meeting was called by the Town of Ghent Broadband Committee on March 30th, 2016 to broaden the effort to county wide. Aides from the offices of Congressman Chris Gibson and Assemblywoman Didi Barrett, as well as representatives and business leaders from nearly every community in Columbia County were in attendance to discuss various aspects of broadband accessibility and expansion.

If you're a business owner, a home based business operator, or do business within Columbia County, please use the following link to take our business survey, and help us to learn more about your connectivity needs:

Please share these surveys with fellow residents and/or business owners in your community.  Please feel free to distribute these links widely - town websites, emails lists, social media, etc.  The results of these surveys will be very important to our overall broadband efforts, with regard to mapping and targeting unserved and underserved areas of the county.  When completing the residential survey, entering a street address is optional, but the more respondents who enter their address the better our overall mapping results will be.
